Miss Riana Patel

Hi, my name is Riana! I grew up in Orlando, Florida and graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine & Dentistry in 2017. I subsequently worked as an Academic Foundation Doctor in the Oxford Global Surgery Group from 2017-2019. I completed my core surgical training at Watford General Hospital before joining the Pott rotation. 
My interests include medical education, leadership, and global surgery. I am the co-founder of the Global Scalpels podcast. I have received funding for my research in paediatric peri-operative safety in Tanzania, which is ongoing. My published research on the role of signalling pathways in cartilage degradation in osteoarthritis was funded by a Wolfson Foundation Intercalated Award. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis and travelling.
